Did you know that living in a home with high
radon levels is a major risk for lung cancer?

Radon is the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer. It is a colorless, tasteless, and naturally occurring radioactive gas found in rocks and soil. Radon can move up into a house from the ground through cracks or holes in the foundation. Radon gas can also dissolve into well water, which then releases into the air when the water is used.

The EPA estimates that radon causes thousands of cancer deaths in the U.S each year.

Radon

Any home can have a radon problem. It doesn’t matter if it’s old or new, or where it’s located. The only way to know if your home has a problem is to test. Simple air and well water tests can show whether home radon levels meet state and national safety guidelines.

The Hissong Group is licensed and registered by the State of Maine DHHS for both air and water radon testing and mitigation.
(ME Registration #ME25800C)

Our team can test the radon levels inside your home and in your water supply that are harmful to your health. If the testing reveals high levels in your air or water supply, we can work with you to install the best radon mitigation solution for your needs. A registered radon tester must be used if you are selling your home.

The standard technique for mitigating radon in Maine is called sub-slab depressurization. These systems remove air from under the slab to create a pressure barrier. The pressure barrier prevents the radon gas from entering the building. The good news is that sub-slab depressurization is very effective at preventing radon from getting into the house.
